Talking Money on Kemet FM: Breaking Barriers in Nottingham

I recently had the opportunity to speak live on air on Kemet FM, Nottingham’s local radio station, about a campaign I created to encourage residents to talk about finance. This was my first time speaking live on the radio, which was both nerve-wracking and exciting!

To start the conversation, I shared a bit about my own experiences with money—because, let’s be honest, we’ve all faced financial challenges at some point. Talking openly about money, without embarrassment, is the first step to breaking down social barriers and helping people feel more confident in managing their finances.

As part of the Nottingham Financial Resilience Partnership (NFRP), I developed a campaign designed to get people talking. I sent communication packs to our partners, ran bus adverts (inside and outside), and launched digital billboards across the city to spread the message.

Speaking live on Kemet FM was an incredible experience and a great way to encourage open conversations around money.
